That’s Hot: Paris Hilton, the Infinite Icon

Hollywood Palladium was alive and sliving with the sweet sounds of pop music by the infinite icon herself, Paris Hilton, on Thursday, October 24th. The singer strutted, danced, and sang her new hits with the backup vocals of her adoring fans knowing all the lyrics.

The heiress brought Megan Trainer out to perform their song “Chasin” with legends like Kim Kardashian, Nicole Richie, and Ashley Benson in attendance.

Her sold-out show was packed to the brim with her loyal fans dressing on brand to her fashion trends throughout the years. Pink is always the theme for Ms. Hilton, and her audience followed that notion to a T. They were dressed head to toe in fur coats, mini skirts, crop tops, low-rise jeans, and rhinestones everywhere.

Paris herself had multiple outfit changes throughout the night, each outfit adorned with crystals sparkling throughout the venue. These looks were styled by the talented Sammy K who works with Hilton often serving memorable looks on the carpet. Her hot pink dress was designed by Micheal NGO with crystal art on it stoned by Leo Villalpando. Paired with her custom dress were matching gloves and boots covered in crystal art crafted by Rio Warner. Together, these pieces formed the epitome of the look of the infinite icon, Hilton’s latest album.

Her wardrobe paid homage to her iconic glitz and glam of the early 2000s that truly defined that fashion era. When you think Y2K, what person comes to mind? A blonde-haired, blue-eyed heiress talking to the paparazzi in a baby voice on her way to the 3rd club of the night. The OG party girl coined the term “that’s hot” and that’s the perfect way to sum up her wardrobe in her early 20s.

That decade was dedicated to tracksuits with writing on the butt, tiny tops and extremely low-rise jeans, the midriff being an accessory, sparkly low-cut dresses, graphic baby tees with prominent phrases on it, and the color pink incorporated into every outfit. Who can forget the classic mini skirt in which Hilton says, “should be the size of a belt.”

The idea of being “girly” and super feminine has often been associated with the typical stereotype of being unintelligent, shallow, and out of touch. We see this trend in media all the time, an example being the movie Legally Blonde in which a privileged, blonde, hyper-feminine Elle Woods from Los Angeles seeks out to become a Harvard graduate attorney to impress her ex-boyfriend to get back together with her. She is faced with bullying and the mockery of her character by her classmates because of course you can’t be a super “girly girl” and smart at the same time, right? Obviously, you can.

The singer goes against these stereotypes and instead embodies this hyper-femininity in her fashion merging it with her businesswoman side that has propelled her to be successful throughout the years. Aside from her last name, Paris has created her legacy through reality television, fragrance lines, music, a New York Times best-selling memoir, and in recent years, being an advocate for mental health reforms for the youth. All while serving looks in her famous heiress way. Now that’s hot.

She has been an impactful influence on not only fashion but the mindset behind all of her looks. You can be a so-called boss babe in rhinestones and a mini skirt. Pink is hot, pink is powerful, and your soft style doesn’t define your impact or capability in this world.

We’ve seen a rebirth of the Y2K aesthetic that is so totally Paris in recent years. Juicy couture tracksuits are back and so are the ed-hardy hats. We see this influence on celebrities like artists Ice Spice, CleotrapaKim Petras, Chrissy Chlapecka, and, Aliyah’s Interlude as well as social media influencer Tara Yummy. For all the fit checks we’ve seen as of late for the early 2000s look, Paris is the blueprint.

During one of her song transitions, the pop star got emotional and raw with her fans saying to them, “I wouldn’t be me without all of you.”

One thing is for certain: Paris Hilton, you will always be famous.  Infinite Icon is out now on all streaming platforms.
