Fin Argus
Clouds, streaming now on Disney+, tells the incredible story of Zach Sobiech, portrayed by Fin Argus. Though this is Fin's first major role, his performance captivates, inspires, and continues on Zach's legacy, carrying out his life mission to bring happiness to others through the arts. His talent brings out a sensitive subject in a loving manner, and Fin walked us through his experience of walking Zach’s shoes, using his platform to give a voice to marginalized groups, and how his craft has helped give him a deeper sense of compassion towards others.

Fin Argus has been a musician and actor since the tender age of 10 years old. With a gentle soul and humble demeanor, Fin is very passionate about the world around him and the issues that affect citizens-- even in some communities not his own. His support for the movement on black liberties, equality for the LGBT community, and other marginalized communities reasserts the presence of love can still be found in our society. “It’s the responsibility of the non-marginalized communities to uplift and protect our brothers and sisters. Whether they're members of the LGBTQ community or members of the black community we need to make sure that they have a safe space to exist, love, and thrive in this country.” Fin’s sentiments echo loudly with the message his ‘Clouds’ character, Zach Sobiech, embodies.

Having already been familiar with the story of Zach and his touching legacy, Fin was touched the first time he’d read the script. “The first time I read the script I remember just bawling my eyes out. I was sitting at the farm that I used to work at and I got to the end of the script and I just sat there in shock and tears just started falling down,” he explained. For an actor, portraying a character requires deep introspection and a level of empathy many simply don’t have (especially when the character is fighting mortality.) Fin’s persona is naturally to care about people and his art, so when you merge both he is in his element. Fin’s aunt personally battled cancer for years and one day while filming he received some bad news about her health, but he was able to filter those emotions into his character. “I got some really bad news about my aunt on set one night, and it was really difficult to take that in and still have to work and perform. But it’s truly a very strange gift to be able to funnel those difficult emotions into something creative and beautiful.”
Fin Argus is using his acting ability to revive Zach’s touching story. As a musician himself, he understands how intimate and vital the messages music sends can be; especially when love is involved. A major part of loving people is possessing a level of empathy. During the filming of this movie, there are some dark points that are addressed, including the loss of hair commonly associated with cancer treatment. The effect of hair loss and physical appearance has on a cancer patient can be debilitating and depressing. “You know the bald cap went all the way down the back of my neck and covered my eyebrows and required tedious application of glue. You’d think that after watching that process unfold for hours, the result would be less surprising or shocking to see in the mirror. But when I looked in the mirror after they had finished the makeup application it was honestly really difficult to see. It made me think about how Zack felt in those moments and how my aunt felt. You know, how any cancer patient feels when they’re going through their experience of chemo and having to reckon with a new physical appearance. I definitely did feel this deep sense of connection with them.”
